Golden Laced Bantam Cochins - The Midas Project
"Nature does not hurry . . . yet everything is accomplished."  ~Lao Tzu

I will be forever grateful to Ken and Bernita Miller, from whom I got my first pair of Golden Laced Bantams in April of 2010.  I had been raising Bantam Cochins for a couple of years prior, but immediately fell in love with the Golden Laced, and knew that GL's would be my focus in the years to come.  This is Midas and Marigold - my first pair:
I hatched out about a dozen chicks in 2010, and these are the two that I kept: (l. to r.:  Calypso and Goldilocks)

2012 Update: My Golden Laced girls just have not been cooperative this year! They seem to be either moulting, broody, or just on strike! No eggs in July or August! While most of the eggs I collected in May and June were infertile, the little chick above was the lone one to hatch. Unfortunately, I very unexpectedly lost the chick after a week.

2013 Update:  2013 started out tragically for me, as I lost both Midas and Calypso in early Spring.  A very unexpected, and very much appreciated, rescue came to me a couple of months later when Shylee Ackman rang my doorbell with Nugget(<pic), a gift she brought to me all the way from Missouri from my good friend Annamay Carlson, who had heard of my plight.  He was just a young 4 months old when he arrived, but showed a lot of promise.  You can see here how he filled in time for his first show in October.  Most of Annamay's GL stock also came from the Millers, so no doubt he is related to Midas or Marigold, or both.  Thank You Annamay!!

Autumn brought more sad news to Coopa Cabana, as Marigold joined Midas and Calypso.

But Nugget hasn't let me down, and along with Goldilocks, they have given me, in late December, six new wonderful Golden Laced chicks to start the
2014 New Year!
